How does one figure out where and how to advertise? Online, confusing for the most part.  CPM. Clicks. The local print market is hard. Inches. Modular. Targeted. Not. Television.  Time Slots. Production.  Radio. Who's listening. When.

  Most start ups and small business owners are watching every dollar so closely.  BUT we often forget that it is a necessity to have a marketing/advertising budget and to spend time promoting ourselves. Straight from the mouth of Lori Hobson, motivational speaker and owner of Finding Your Beauty, "be the president of your own fan club"!  Yes promote yourself.  FREE AND PAID. We often continue the same path, spending the same dollars or no dollars, hoping and praying that the bank account is going to increase.  GUESS WHAT?  IT IS NOT.    
 
Okay, here's some free advice.  DON'T believe everything the advertising sales representative tells you. If you haven't taken the time to do your homework on the media you are thinking about spending your hard earned money on, then you need to hire a professional to do that work for you.  Let me break it down.  Have you ever just turned into a car lot and said I am buying a car today and umm let me close my eyes..I will take that one.  NO WE DON'T.  We research. We test drive.  We ask others. We beat up the poor salesperson.  We pray on it.  We count our pennies. We research some more.  And then we buy. Then, why do we all get caught up in the fast talking sales executive who makes you a pretty ad, tells you will have great placement, and asks for the money!??!! We spend countless dollars advertising and do we measure the response?  Do we even know how? Do we mix it up or put everything in one bucket that may have a hole in it.? 
We are all guilty of it. 

 WHY.  Because we do not have the time.  Time to measure responses, for SEO, to research and develop a customer profile and plan an attack.  WE need to take the time. Or once again, hire a professional.  There are tons of tools at our finger tips that can help us.  We just need to know where to look, how to look and what to look for.
