So, my Iphone got wet!

July 19, 2009
Yes, my iPhone got wet.  I couldn't believe it.  I was letting the dogs outside and they ran past me, knocked me to the ground, the iPhone flew out of my hand, took one bounce on the deck and then immediately into the pond.  YES, the pond.  I leaped over the rail with arm extended and retrieved my iPhone out of the bottom of the pond.
What do I do...I start blowing and shaking and praying.  I text a good friend who says take the battery off and let it dry (she doesn't own an iPHONE yet so has no clue that is will be an incredible task for me).  I then call my husband.  He knows all!  He says turn it off but it in a bowl of uncooked rice.  So, I did.  I immediately went to the other know all source for me, Google. I googled, my iphone is wet know what do i do.  ( I always google in long statements! Like Google is my friend!)

Here is some websites that really helped me out:

1. Wiki Answers4. Elliot C. Back blog

As I thought about taking the iPhone apart...As I am a pro at taking things apart by watching DIY videos from YouTUBE.  I quickly decided that the iPhone, unlike the PS3 I took apart successfully to remove like 5 DVDs that a 3 year old had placed into the tray, was not a task I was ready to complete. The video is so worth the watch through and amazing that the battery replacement costs are like $30 versus $100 from Apple. The Bleeding Edge video saved me from opening up my iphone.

Here are the steps I took to nurse my iPHONE back to stable condition:

1. Shake out all the water
2. Turn it off -don't do like I did and text and call people for help as I later found out it could have damaged the phone further
3. Place it in a covered bowl of uncooked rice.  But I also found out Silica Gel packs-like what you get in your new shoe boxes are suppose to work well-I might just be saving them in a ziploc bag from now on)
4. Leave it in the container for 24 hours.  Do NOT however how tempting take it out.  Of course, you can check on it from time to time.  It will make you feel better-Just leave it off!
5. Place the container on some mild not extremely hot surface.  Cable box is good!
6. Change the positioning but keep it covered in rice.  Place it upright to allow any water to run out.
7. Charge it fully before use.
8. Say a pray and turn it on

If that doesn't work for you, try one of the links to the websites.  There are a lot of great suggestions!

My iPhone is receiving calls and text.  I am back playing Scrabble.  I have one small issue which is the Airplane mode wants to keep coming on...BUT a girl can live with that to have their iPhone working!

Make it great.  And keep you cell phones away from water.  I will up date you on the condition of my iPhone as the days go by!

Advertising 101

How does one figure out where and how to advertise? Online, confusing for the most part.  CPM. Clicks. The local print market is hard. Inches. Modular. Targeted. Not. Television.  Time Slots. Production.  Radio. Who's listening. When.

Most start ups and small business owners are watching every dollar so closely.  BUT we often forget that it is a necessity to have a marketing/advertising budget and to spend time promoting ourselves. Straight from the mouth of Lori Hobson, motivational speaker...
